A former President of the Ghana Bar Association and renowned lawyer, Samuel Okudzeto, has stated that his analysis of the 588 paged judgement, handed down by the Supreme Court on the presidential election petition, reveals that the judgement went 5-4 in favour of the petitioners. At a symposium organized by the Danquah Institute (DI) to review the Supreme Court�s decision in the election petition, filed by Nana Akufo-Addo and two other Petitioners, Sam Okudzeto stated that the judgement read by Justice Atuguba did not establish the fact that the petitioners lost the case. We have to agree to disagree as a nation, but when we twist fact just for purposes of politics, we are destroying the very foundation that binds us as a people. In the wisdom of the Supreme Court, the highest court of the land, the petitioners could not adduce enough evidence to overturn the fact that President John Dramani Mahama was not validly elected. We do not think, Samuel Okudzeto and his despots at the DI, are more knowledgeable in law than the Nine Justices who heard the election petition. We cannot continue down this path, if this country is to be seen and accepted as a beacon of hope for the rest of Africa. This thoughtless suggestion was made at the time when President Mahama had addressed the 68th United Nations (UN) session in New York and had praised Ghana for the historic feet of having an election challenged for the first time in court. If this is not for politics and recognition for Sam Okudzeto, then we do not know what it is. If he is suffering from �menopause� or is a case of dementia, he should seek medical attention. What saddens us is the apparent silence on the path of the Ghana Bar Association, the Peace Council and other relevant agencies and individuals who were quick to condemn Tsatsu Tsikata, when he criticized Justice Anin Yeboah, unless of course Lawyer Sam Okudzeto comments is much ado about nothing and does not deserve any attention.
