UDS To Honour Rawlings

Authorities of the University for Development Studies (UDS) administration have fixed October 12 to honour former President Jerry John Rawlings. Former President Rawlings who established the UDS in 1992 is expected to be honoured with a Doctorate degree. Additionally, Jerry Rawlings� statue will be unveiled at the main Nyankpala campus of the UDS. This forms part of activities marking the University for Development Studies� 20th Anniversary celebration. The UDS Registrar, Dr. A.B.T Zakariah told Citi News the university authorities have concluded arrangements with the office of former President Rawlings. Dr. Zakariah said former President Rawlings� contribution to the successes of the UDS cannot be underestimated. He unreservedly implied that the former President will forever be adored for establishing the premier northern university which has created several opportunities for students across the country. According to Dr. Zakariah, the main event is scheduled to take place at the Tamale city campus where several dignitaries have been invited to grace the occasion.
