Reduce Fuel Prices Or Face Closure - NPA Tells Fuel Stations

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has begun sanctioning fuel stations which have not reduced fuel prices. This follows the announcement of a reduction in the prices of petroleum products earlier this week by the NPA. The price of petrol went down by 4% and that of diesel and LPG was reduced by about 2%. But checks conducted by Citi News revealed that some fuel stations are yet to make price changes. Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer of the NPA, Yaro Kasambata said his outfit is monitoring the latest development and has already started closing down retail outlets that are yet to revise prices. There has been massive monitoring to ensure that all retail outlets in the country comply and the feedback we have received from our monitoring team is that weve had a large number of retail stations selling at the reduced price and all the places that our team visited, the stations were selling at the reduced price. He continued that a few fuel stations were selling at the old price because they thought that the prices were still the same and they claim they havent heard that the prices have reduced. We have applied sanctions and such stations have been closed down. Mr. Kasambata however indicated that such stations will be re-opened only if their machines are re-configured to sell the fuel products at the new price.
