Ghanaians Should Consider Payment Of Utility Tariffs As A Form Of Sacrifice

Samuel George, a member of Governments Communication Team, has asked Ghanaians to consider the payment of the utility tariff increment as a sacrifice they have to make for the country to develop. He said, in as much as the country is facing difficult times and the increment is making the situation worse, we need to ask ourselves if we want the country to develop or to remain stagnant. Analyzing the recent utility tariff increment of 78.9% in electricity and 52% on water on PeaceFMs Kokrokoo programme, Samuel George said: I can relate with the pain the average Ghanaian is facingit is a difficult situation for everybody but we should consider the payment of the increment as a sacrifice we are offering for the nation to develop. We have to make sure the system does not collapsewe have to ensure that there is no longer power outages. According to him, if Ghanaians are biting that bitter pill (increment) now to make sure that tomorrow is better, I dont see anything wrong with it even though it is a difficult pill to take. He however stressed that Ghanaians can hold government responsible if they dont get the service required from the service providers after the payment of the tariffs.
