Man Chews Lover�s Lips

A trader who engaged his lover in a fight and bit her lower lip after she informed him that she was no longer interested in their relationship, has been remanded into police custody. The accused person, Kwame Brobbey, who allegedly threatened to kill the woman for taking such a decision, was yesterday put before an Accra Circuit Court on two charges of causing harm and threat of death. After pleading guilty to the charges, the court ordered that he be remanded to reappear on October 16, 2013 for sentencing. The prosecutor, DSP Emelia Asante, disclosed to the court presided over by Wilhelmina Hammond that the complaint and the accused are traders and lovers living together. According to her, they have been in the relationship for six months. In the course of the relationship, the complaint observed that Kwame was a quick tempered person who often threatened her with death at the least provocation. The complaint narrated that of September 14, while the complaint was selling Kantamanto market, the accused went and picked a quarrel with his girlfriend without any prosecution. In the course of the quarrel, the accused attacked the lady and bit her lower lip, resulting in a deep cut. After the incident, the complaint reported the matter to the Anyaa Police where she was issued with a medical form t attend hospital. DSP Asante stated that the accused went to the house of the complaint, and in the presence of witnesses in the matter, he threatened to kill her with a cutlass and a broken bottle. Brobbey was subsequently arrested and upon interrogation, he admitted the offense in his caution statement.
