Taxi Driver Attacked By Robbers

A three-member criminal gang on the dawn of Wednesday attacked and inflicted deep knife wounds on a taxi driver at Adum, the nerve-centre of commercial activities in Kumasi. They seized from the victim, Kwaku Owusu, cash amount of GH�70.00 and his cellular phone. The Kia Pride car he was driving had developed mechanical fault and as he desperately worked to fix it, the three burst on the scene, drew knives and ordered him to surrender his money and phone. Owusu obliged, but not satisfied, they started stabbing him indiscriminately on the body. His screams attracted the attention of some people in the neighbourhood and the criminals took to flight when they saw people approaching. The victim, who bled profusely, was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for treatment. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Tanko of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and said they had launched investigations to arrest the culprits.
