Woman Leads Armed Robbery Syndicate

In a typical Hollywood style, a woman last Wednesday dawn led a group of armed robbers to attack and rob passengers on board a Metro Mass bus, traveling from Tarkwa to Kumasi. Wielding an AK-47 riffle, the only female member of the gang stopped the driver, jumped onto the bus, and ordered the passengers to surrender their monies and other valuables at a road block they have mounted. The passengers who feared for their lives quickly surrendered their monies after which she ordered the driver to speed off, amidst gun shots from the other robbers. The incident occurred at Yareyeye, on the Tarkwa/Bogogo road in the Western Region. The robbers took away thousand of Ghana cedis from the passengers. Nana Yaw Oppong, a victim told newsmen that the driver managed to return to Tarkwa where he reported the incident to the police. Meanwhile, the Tarkwa Police have mounted a search for the robbers who are said to have also shot a driver of a private car in the shoulder for refusing to stop.
