Four Robbers Nabbed

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested four (4) suspected teenage armed robbers who were on a robbery operation at Dawenya. Tema Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Maxwell Atengane, who briefed the press after the arrest, disclosed that at about 12:30 A.M., on 8th October, 2013, the Prampram/Dawenya police patrol team led by one Inspector Appiah apprehended a taxi with registration number GE5659 X from Tema. He said when the police attempted to search the taxi two of the occupants managed to escape. Luck however eluded three of the suspects � Bright Amanor, 18; Haruna Issaka, 19, alias �Ballsense, and; Sheriff Mohammed, 18, all residents of Ashaiman, which led to their arrest, DCOP Atengane narrated. Three (3) locally manufactured pistols, 6 live cartridges of BB ammunitions, a pair of scissors, a hammer, a knife and two chisels were found on them during a search by the police. According to the Tema police commander, the taxi driver, Kwasi Soli, 28, was also arrested and taken to the Prampram police station for interrogation. DCOP Atengene continued that the suspects confessed that they were going to rob at Dawenya having undertaken three earlier ones in the same area in the past two months. He recounted that the two other persons who fell victims to the robbery activities of the robbers were Samuel Owusu and William Ofori which incident occurred in Oyibi and Teshie Tsui-Bleoo respectively. DCOP Atenga stated that further investigations revealed that the gang normally operates using the taxi driver who sends them for their operations and picks them after every operation. According to him, the four will be put before court soon.
