Tackle The Overlaps, To Remove The Friction

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Mr Kofi Sarfo Kantanka, has called for the removal of the administrative overlaps straining the relationship between district directors and regional managers of religious education units. He said their functions needed to be properly streamlined to help end the confusion. He was speaking at the annual national conference of managers of educational units in Kumasi. The five-day meeting is being held under the theme The educational partnership between the government and the religious and other bodies in the decentralization policy the way forward. Mr Sarfo Kantanka said the mode of operation between the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the educational/religious units would necessarily have to be reviewed. He said it was by doing this that the partnership between the GES, religious bodies and other stakeholders would work peacefully and effectively towards achievement of quality education and open access to more children. The Right Rev Dr. Cyril Ben Smith, the Suffragan Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, appealed to all stakeholders to work together to improve education.
