Washing Bay Attendant Jailed 40 Years...

An Accra Circuit Court on Monday sentenced Eric Nyarko, a car washing bay attendant to 40 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery. Eric pleaded guilty to both charges and was convicted 20 years for conspiracy and 40 years for robbery all to run concurrently, on his own plea. The convict was said to have conspired with two others, now at large, to rob one King Saul of a laptop valued at GH�1,000.00, two Samsung Galaxy phones valued at GH�1,000.00, one Itel mobile phone valued at GH� 50.00 and a cash sum of GH�20.00. The facts of the case as presented by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Patrick Morkeh are that, the complainant is a student resident at Kaneshie in Accra, while the convict lives at Kaneshie, also in Accra. He said at about 0200 hours on October 1, the convict in the company of his accomplices armed with cutlasses entered the complainant�s office at Kaneshie roundabout and asked he and his friends to surrender their money, mobile phones and laptop. After the robbery the complainant reported the case to the police for investigation. The prosecution told the court at about 1330 hours on October 7, the complainant spotted the convict at Agbogboloshie and arrested him with the assistance of others and handed him over to the police for investigations. He said the convict in his cautioned statement admitted the offence.
