Coalition Of Concerned Teachers Declare Nationwide Strike

The Coalition Of Concern Teachers has declared a nationwide strike starting tomorrow, Thursday, 24th October to register their protest over their unpaid salary arrears by government. According to the group, though they made government to be aware of their unpaid arrears in respect of their incremental credit for twenty four months (2011-2012) and car maintenance allowance, Government has deliberately refused to heed to their call and has also refused to make the GES occupational pension scheme see the light of day. The National Communications Director of the group King Ali Awudu disclosed in an interview on Hello FM that, "as a concerned Union, which believes that a peaceful and harmonious relationship between labour and the employer is critical for effective service delivery and improved productivity, the national executive committee of coalition at its 9th sitting in Accra agreed to extend its October 14th deadline to October 23,2013 to enable leadership exhaust all channels of communication in addressing the issues with government, but none of this has materialized" . The group has therefore decided to embark on a strike action Thursday, 24, October 2013, if government shows no sign of meeting their demands.
