Adjei-Darko Joins NPP Race

The former Local Government Minister in the erst-while Kufuor government, Kwadwo Adjei-Darko, has declared his intention to contest the Brong Ahafo Regional chairmanship position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Mr. Ajei-Darko has promised to work hard with the grassroots to make the party popular in the region so as to recapture power in 2016. Speaking in an interview with Daily Guide in Sunyani, the former MP for Sunyani West said the party needed togetherness to bring it back to power, saying that he was ready to bring that unity to the party in the region. He noted that his decision to join the chairmanship position was because of the way the party was losing its grounds in the region. We have been putting in our best to help the party, but if you stretch your hand to help and the help is not taken then it will come to zero, he said. He was worried that some party members had only decorated themselves with positions without working for the betterment of the party. According to him, as a former minister, regional chairman and MP, he believed he had the potential to lead the party in the region. Mr. Adjei-Darko said that he was ready to work hard for the party in the region to claim the three seats that were taken away from them during the 2012 elections and win more for the party. He said this was the time or the party to unite and seal the loopholes before the 2016 elections. He noted that he would work hard to restore the party to its status as the most structured and vibrant political party in the region. The former Local Government Minister was the partys regional chairman between 1993 and 1997 until he won the Sunyani West seat as Member of Parliament. He noted that his immediate task as Regional Chairman would be to unite the rank and file of the party. Especially the grassroots, ahead of their efforts to win 2016 general elections.
