After a successful high profile launch at the British House of Commons in the UK, on September 5, GUBA Awards has been officially launched in Ghana. The British High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Peter Jones on Thursday evening October 25, 2013 hosted the launch of the 2013 Ghana UK-Based Achievements (GUBA) Awards at his residence at Cantonments in Accra for the second year running. The launch was attended by several High profiled personalities and business moguls including the C.E.O of Vodafone Ghana, Harris Broudmidis and Kweku Bedu � Addo, C.E.O of Standard Chartered. The ceremony which was compered by ace broadcaster Kwame Sefa Kayi was also attended by Hon Fritz Baffour, Abeiku Santana, Lisa Lovatt-Smith founder and President of OrphanAid Africa, Clifford Duke Mettle, President of Chartered Institute of Bankers, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, J.N Halm, Kweku Sekyi Addo, Ama K Abebrese, and and others. There was also a performance by TV3�s talented kidz winner, Essi formerly Maame Esi. In its fourth year, the prestigious GUBA Awards Ceremony will take place at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel on 16 November 2013. This year�s stellar line up of the Black award recipients include Mr. Herman Chinery-Hesse, who is receiving the Exceptional Achievement Award for his pioneering role in the evolvement of software development and implementation in Ghana and England�s most capped player of all-time, footballer Rachel Yankey MBE receives the Sporting Achievement Award and finally MOBO awards founder, Kanya King also receives the Enterprise Mogul Award for her accolades and achievements in creating, developing and diversifying the esteemed MOBO brand. Incredible calibre of musicians forms the nominees of the Artist of the Year category, which includes Clement Marfo, Sway, Fuse ODG, Tinchy Stryder, Guvna B and Lethal B. Vying for an award in the African Fashion Fusion category are Mina Evans, Duaba Serwaa, Christie Brown and JIL Boutique � Ghana based designers whose wares have amassed a rapid popularity and appreciation, not only in Ghana but also in the Diaspora.
