Blaming Mahama For Corruption Is Unfair

Presidential Staffer, Dr. Clement Apaak says it is unfair for anyone to blame the president for the GHS144 million scandal involving Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Subah Infosolutions Limited or any acts of corruption in the country. To try and suggest that perhaps, these revelations of malfeasance be it the issue of Subah or otherwise, has to be heaped or blamed on the President. I think it is most unfair, he complained. The GRA is reported to have contracted Subah Infosolutions Limited to offer telecom traffic monitoring services but within a space of three years, the GRA paid almost GH144 million to Subah for absolutely no work done. Some political and social commentators have however raised concerns as to why no official statement has been given from the government concerning the matter. Speaking on The Big Issue, Dr. Apaak explained that the president has not received any official information on the issue but like any other Ghanaian citizen, I am very sure that he has probably seen it in the dailies. He pointed out that there are institutions specifically set up to deal with such matters of corruption and therefore investigations will certainly be conducted to ascertain the truth. The former Convenor of the Forum for Governance and Justice (FGJ) reiterated the Presidents quest to the fight against corruption saying he has shown that he is serious about tightening the noose around the neck of corruption but he has also indicated that he cannot do it alone and we must all agree. According to him, the Presidency cannot come out and hold a press conference when we dont have evidence.
