The chiefs and people of Manya Krobo Traditional Area at the weekend observed their annual Ngmayem festival.
The indigenes clad in African apparel including beads round their necks and wrists, thronged the Laasi Park at Odumase to mark the festival.
Addressing the gathering, Nene Sakite II, Paramount Chief of Manya Krobo expressed the need for the people to raise the standard of education in the area by supporting the local education fund meant to offer scholarships to the needy.
He also urged the Ghana Education Service to come out with an action plan that could help improve the education standard in the area.
Nene Sakite said the academic performance of basic schools in Manya Krobo is not the best.
He appealed to the government to provide the area with a senior high school to augment the few ones available and live up to its promise to reshape the road network.
�For so many years now, the roads... remain bad,� he said.
Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, told the people of government�s intention of instituting one of the presidential special schools in the area.
She asked parents to endeavour to keep their children in school to enable them develop their potentials for the progress of the country.
