NPP Supporters Root For Addai-Nimoh As 2016 Flagbearer

Investigations conducted by the Daily Heritage into the forthcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate race has revealed that numerous supporters of the party across the country want a new face to replace their twice defeated candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2016 election, but for fear of name tag or intimidation people cannot openly come out. The NPP has announced its time table for the conduct of the polling station executive elections slated for November, 2013, constituency executive election for December, as well as national executive election scheduled for March, 2014 and Flag bearer primary also slated for June, 2014. The paper gathered that there is serous lobbying by supporters of the various potential candidates and one of the names which has popped up strongly is Francis Addai Nimoh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong constituency in the Ashanti Region. One thing which most die-hard supports of the party seem to agree on is that the twice defeated NPP Presidential candidate, Nana Akuffo-Addo is still popular within the ranks of Party, but he cannot appeal to floating voters to win power for them. Some of the potential names which have come up for the NPP flagbearership slot are Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, twice defeated presidential flag bearer, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, former Minster of Regional Integration and NEPAD and Dr. Richard Anane, former Roads Minister. The rest are Joe Ghartey, former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Asamoah Boateng also former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development. The rest of the names which have come up as possible NPP flag bearer contestants also include Dr. Bawumia, Prof. Frimpong Boateng, Dan Botwe, Dr. Kennedy Arthur among others. Those who are rooting for honorable Addai-Nimoh contend that, though, he has not come out to declare his intention to contest for the post, they believe his stature and appeal to people will attract votes for the NPP and also break the Nana Akufo-Addo/Alan Kyerematen faction in the party. Mr. Nimoh is said to command a lot of respect among his colleague MPs and both political divide can bring his experience to bear to end the seeming factionalism and tension in the NPP. Our checks indicated that Mr. Nimoh was born on March 23, 1965 at Nyinampong, a town near Asante Mampong. He holds Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
