Hanna Tetteh Replies Alban Bagbin...

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hanna Serwaa Tetteh says former Majority Leader should focus on the government's priority projects and stop criticising president John Mahama publicly. According to her, Mr. Bagbin would find himself doing something more useful if he puts the zeal with which he is criticising the president into supervising the projects assigned to him and two others, the so-called 'Three Wise Men' . Mr. Alban Bagbin, last week expressed frustrations at the president in an interview with Joy News, for failing to take decisive action to deal with corruption in his government. In a response, a presidential staffer, Stan Dogbe discounted the claims by the former Health Minister describing him as "enemy within". However, Ms. Hanna Tetteh, who is attending the 3rd Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation Meeting between Ghana and South Africa issued a statement Monday, condemning the decision by Mr. Bagbin to criticise president John Mahama in public. "We can create a more effective way of demanding accountability and dealing with the allegations of corruption & mismanagement where they are alleged to have occurred. We would not be expecting the President to be Superman," the statement said. "You may not agree with me, but I believe that Democratic Governance can never be a 'one man' or 'one party show', we all have a role to play. To my brother Hon. Alban Bagbin, that means criticising the President in public makes sensational headlines, and perhaps the main topic of discussion for the week, but if you put that zeal into the supervision & oversight of the projects given to you and the other "wise men" to oversee, and deliver on time, on budget and maintain standards & quality you would be doing something that would be in the headlines for all the best reasons for a long time to come." Meanwhile, Mr Bagbin has said it was shocking that President John Mahama, known for his benign and amiable qualities, would have people like Stan Dogbe following him around. "If such characters as Stan Dogbe, are those managing the president, then our president is naked, very naked! he stated on Accra-based Okay FM. Mr. Dogbe had in response to Bagbin's comments accused the former Majority Leader of lying and exposing the president to public ridicule.
