It's "TOTAL Ceasefire" Says Alban Bagbin

Alban Sumana Kinsford Bagbin, NDC MP for Nadowli-Kaleo, says he has agreed to cease fire on his criticism of the John Mahama administration and his media war with some government appointees and party communicators after a truce called by the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia. The NDC called for a truce over recent criticisms of the government by the former Majority Leader and counter-attacks on his (Bagbin's) person by some members of the government's communication team. NDC Chief Scribe, Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, speaking on PeaceFM on Monday, told Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of the station's flagship "Kokrokoo" programme, that a committee had been set up to go into the matter. According to him, he had spoken to Mr Bagbin and all those who had made comments on the issue and expressed the hope that an amicable solution would be found. We call on ministers, communicators, Members of Parliament and supporters to desist from further commenting on the issue. I can only call on all to cease fire, he said, adding that the party would resort to its internal mechanism for resolving conflict. General Mosquito, as he is affectionately called, pointed out that considering the former Minority and Majority Leader's stature, the issue he had spoken about should not be taken lightly and pledged that when we hold an internal meeting we will be able to take the chaff out of the truth. Hon Bagbin nearly caused a major storm within the current administration when he claimed he was not gaining access to the President to give him private counsel about the festering corruption in the country and other challenges bedeviling the country which he might be unaware of. He was scathingly attacked verbally amidst accusations of being a "liar", an "enemy within" and caution to channel his "zeal" to overseeing his work as a member of the "three wise men", by some government appointees including Deputy Information Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Presidential Staffer, Stan Dogbe and Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh for choosing the wrong platform to air his concerns. But speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FMs morning show, "Kokrokoo", Alban Bagbin stressed that his recent pronouncements on the governance system of the country were not made out of malice. He agreed to go by Asiedu Nketia's directive and not allow himself to be provoked by anyone. I respect the General very well; I think the right thing should be done so from now on it's total cease fire...I respect the General Secretary and I think the right thing to be done is not to talk on this issue again for nowI wouldnt want to make any further comment, Hon Bagbin said.
