NPPs Electoral College Should Be Expanded

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sekyere South Constituency, has called for the expansion of the partys Electoral College to include all card-bearing members for the election of officials at all levels gathers momentum. Mr. Opoku Agyeman Prempeh said this would not only effectively prevent vote buying but promote broader participation in the partys decision making process. Choosing the leadership must not be restricted to only few delegates, he said, when he spoke to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi. Mr. Prempeh, who is the Managing Director of Lakayana Company in Kumasi, said he also did not see any problems with Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, the defeated 2012 presidential candidate, putting himself up to be elected to lead the NPP to the 2016 general polls. To him, those expressing misgivings simply on account of his age were getting it wrong, since political governance required expertise and experience. Nana Akufo-Addo is someone Ghanaians could put their bet on to fix the troubled economy, given his pedigree and singular contribution to the countrys democratic governance, he added. He rallied the party supporters to work together to better the NPPs electoral fortunes in 2016.
