A woman has claimed she was visiting a relatives tomb in Brazil when an arm emerged from the soil covering an adjacent grave, accompanied by a muffled voice calling for help.
The spine-chilling incident reportedly occurred in a cemetery in the suburb of Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Sao Paulo.
In video footage said to have first been shown on Brazils Record TV, the man appears almost lifeless as he is pulled from the grave, before an emergency worker discovers he is still breathing.
Speaking to a Daily Mail reporter in Rio de Janeiro, the unnamed woman who discovered him said: I was terrified to see a man, who I thought was dead, trying to get out of the grave.
He had his head and hands out and was moving his arms around, trying to get out.
Noticias R7 says city officials have confirmed the case but it is unknown how the man, understood to be a former city hall worker, came to be in the grave.
