Fifi Kwetey Should Publish Just A Piece On Economics To Prove His Intelligence

Two-time Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was literally shredded into pieces by the government after he sarcastically described the Socialist Democratic Ideals of the ruling National Democratic Congress as Akonfem (guinea fowl) Socialism. During a memorial lecture to commemorate the life of the late Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Dr. Bawumia stated that the current government lacks the fiscal discipline to revamp the economy and was only proud of their borrowing prowess. Hours after that speech, Minister of State at the Presidency in charge of Financial and Allied Institutions, Fifi Kwetey, went on the offensive and launched a scathing attack on the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, labelling him an "empty barrel" and an unintelligent economist. He further accused Dr Bawumia of being bereft of ideas and incompetent. But it appears his choice of words clearly did not sit well with Mustapha Hamid, a Special Aide to Nana Akufo-Addo, 2012 NPP Flagbearer. Speaking on Joy FMs News File programme, Mustapha Hamid was bemused at the disrespectful brigade in the NDC led by Fifi Kwetey and openly wondered if he (Fifi) thinks he is on the same pedigree as Dr Bawumia intellectually. He dared Fifi Kwetey to up his credibility or test the storming waters by just writing an academic article on Ghanas economy. "He [Kwetey] says Bawumia is unintelligent. I haven't said he [Kwetey] is unintelligent. I am saying he is a very intelligent fellow. He should prove his intelligence by giving us one published article in a backwater journal," Mustapha Hamid said. The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute vowed "to give him all the reverence he deserves if he is able write such an article". Sardonically, he suggested that after Fifi Kwetey has penned his article, it should be given to a journal of economists at Afghanistan and not Oxford to review the work. "Let Fifi Kwetey write one academic article on Economics. Don't take it to Oxford Journal of Economics. He will take it to a journal in Afghanistan and await a reviewers response, then he will understand what it takes to be a recognized academic," he said.
