On Nduoms Facebook Wall.Tax payers Deserve Respect He Tells Govt

Presidential candidate of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) in the 2012 election, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has called on government to use hard workers tax payers money wisely. According him, government has no reason not to improve the lives of tax payers if the 2.5 per cent increase in Value Added Tax is implemented. Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom was reacting to a Minister of State in charge of Financial and Allied Institutions, Fifi Kweteys assertions that Monies for development do not drop from Heaven; they come from taxes when the minority walked out in protest accusing the Majority in Parliament and government of pushing the bill through without any debate or input from the minority. Fifi Kwetey, incensed by the decision of the minority to walk out of Parliament in protest over the 2.5 per cent increase in tax, posited that the minority members cannot claim to want development and lobby for it in their respective constituencies and walk out of Parliament during the passing of a bill that will bring in money for development. You cant eat your cake and have it, monies for development do not drop from heaventhey come from taxes Mr. Fifi opined Responding to the issue on his Facebook wall, Dr. Kwesi Nduom however agreed with Mr. Kwetey utterances but advised his government to carefully use the tax payers money. Monies for development do not drop from Heaven; they come from taxes, agreed. Our taxes, what we Ghanaians work hard to pay to government must be spent with care, on projects that will improve the quality of our lives and those who decide how much we should pay must not treat the tax burden casually. Taxpayers deserve respect, he said.
