Appiah Revels In Historic World Cup Feat

Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah is reveling in the historic feat of guiding the Black Stars to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Stars booked their place despite a 2-1 loss to Egypt in Cairo on Tuesda, courtesy 7-3 on aggregate, and the Stars trainer claims he is the happiest man in the wake of the achievement. He told GNA Sports in Cairo that I dont know how to describe the feeling now. Every Ghanaian was looking forward to the qualification and now we have it. Appiah, who spoke in a frail voice, however refused to take credit for the feat describing it as a collective one. We made it with the support of the whole team, playing body and officials. Also the support from GFA and Ministry played a huge role in us getting this far. Also we thank Ghanaian for their support throughout the campaign. We are very grateful, he said. On the loss to Egypt, he blamed it on his teams poor start, citing their late arrival for the game. We arrived late to the stadium and had little time to warm up. Our plan was to soak the pressure, calm the game down and take them on. On a whole, the team played well and did the good thing of us qualifying. Appiah also had the support of his former boss, Milovan Rajevac who was at the Air Defence Stadium to watch the Stars qualify for their third successive World Cup. The ex-Ghana captain deputized for the Serbain during the campaign for the 2001 World Cup where the Stars reached the knockout stage before bowing to Uruguay on penalties. Appiah becomes the first indigenous coach to qualify the Black Stars to the Mundial.
