Egypt Replace Bob Bradley With Shawky Gharib

The 54-year-old has returned to the national team as head coach after Bob Bradley failed to qualify the Pharaohs to Brazil 2014. The Egypt FA has appointed Shawky Gharib as coach of the Pharaohs following the departure of American Bob Bradley. Bradley failed to qualify the seven-time African champions for the 2014 World Cup after a 7-3 aggregate loss to Ghana in a two-legged play-off and had to cut ties with the north African country. Gharib was assistant to local hero Hassan Shehata, who led the Pharaohs to win three-straight Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010. His contract will run until the end of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the EFA confirmed. Besides the senior national team, the former midfielder has managed the Under-21, Smouha and Ismaily.
