THE DUNKWA Police have launched investigations into how staff of the Dunkwa-on-Offin branch of Eden Financial Services physically assaulted a customer of the financial Institution for daring to demand withdrawal of her contribution. The police intervention follows a complaint by 47-year-old Leticia Mensah, who is a customer of the loans and saving company. According to Madam Mensah, alias Madam Agyeiwaa, has since March, this year, saved GH�3,390 with the company. She told The Chronicle that on May 31, 2013, she applied for a loan of GH�7,000 to enable her buy a car in line with the regulations of the institution, having saved that much within that period. She narrated that upon submission of the application, the bank told her to come in two weeks time, but when the time came, she was asked to go and come again in two week time. According to Madam Mensah, she was disappointed for more than two months, only to be told to continue saving with the institution as her application was being considered. After saving for a further month, she renewed enquiries regarding her application, but she was again asked to go and come to back in a month time. Madam Mensah said she waited for another one month to make sure the financial institution had done its home work. The complainant said when she finally went to the bank on Monday November 18, 2013, she was not attended to, as none of the staff talked to her until after 4 p.m. when a staff came and told her to go home and come another day, because the financial institution saw her claim as huge. Not satisfied with the flimsy excuse to avoid her, she decided to stay around the bank premises till 7 p.m. According to her, nine of the staff of the company rushed on her, while one Collins dragged her from the main entrance of the hall where she fell and got wounded on the shoulder following which she lodged a complaint with the police who also gave her a medical form to go to the hospital for medical treatment and report back. She said, one Kyei, the marketing manager of the company was present when she was assaulted by another staff one Collins. Madam Mensah indicated that on submission of the medical report, the police escorted her to the bank premises to retrieve her hand bag, which she left at the place, at the time she was assaulted the previous day. The complainant also claims since the assault on November 18, the police have not shown any interest in her case. But Municipal Police Commander at Dunkwa, Supt. D. K Dzanzi who confirmed the story, says investigations are on-going and that the outcome would be made known to the paper in due course. The Marketing manager of Eden Mr. Kyei has denied knowing the victim. He also claimed alibi at the time Madam Mensah was reportedly dragged on the ground.
