FDAs Persecution Of TOBINCOPolitically Motivated Or Overzealousness????

One of the basic principles in Physics is, to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. However, the action by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), which it believes is in pursuance of its mandate as regulator, has been interpreted, rightly or wrongly as political witch hunt. According to Moses Anim, the Member of Parliament for the Trobu Constituency, he, together with others members of the general public, are at a loss as to the real reasons for which Mr. Samuel Amo Tobin was detained by the police for hours on Monday evening even after paying a penalty of GHC 40, 000. do you know what is happening today? But, we know that he (Mr. Tobin) is one big pillar of the Dr. Wyatt branch of the Church of Pentecost. It is that same church the opposition leader, Nana Akufo Addo chose to thank God in, after the election petition trial. Now, people are asking if Tobin is being targeted because as a leader of the church, he brought in Nana Akufo Addo to thank God in his church. Sometimes, ones actions and utterances may mean well but because it has not been handled well, to the extent that when you appear to be vindictive, people would read meanings into it, Hon. Moses Anim stated. He made these comments during a panel discussion on the media war between the FDA and TOBINCO Pharmaceuticals onMe Man Nti a flagship talk show program on NEAT 100.9 FM. Tobin was arrested Monday afternoon by Officers from the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) after honouring an invitation. He was later sent to the Nima Divisional Police Command and charged with obstruction of justice. According to sources, EOCO acting on information that Tobinco had imported fake drugs into the country, decided to lock the company's warehouse on the Spintex Road, but workers of the company resisted the action prompting them to arrest its CEO for alleged obstruction. Mr. Samuel Amo Tobin was however released on a GHC 1 million bail. The Trobu MP wondered why EOCO had to wait nearly two weeks after the incident before affecting an arrest. He also described as totally unfair FDAs penalization of the pharmaceutical firm and the near-incarceration of the TOBINCO CEO. Many theories have been propounded since the stalemate between the FDA and TOBINCO Pharmaceuticals Limited stated. It took the intervention to the Parliament of Ghana to call both parties to a ceasefire to what has been described in many quarters as fierce turf war. Meanwhile, a section of the general public believes that the actions of the FDA are simply meant to cripple the business operations of TOBINCO and thus puzzled by why such a religious man would be the target for destruction by anybody.
