As the world cup balls were manually rotated and picked randomly to position countries that qualified for the event, it was the fervent prayer of every Ghanaian to escape countries that could hinder our progress.
But it has now come to fore that Ghana will face the likes of Germany, Portugal and the USA in group G. In other groups, the host nation Brazil, was placed in group A and will face Croatia, Mexico and Cameron.
Group B features the likes of Spain, Netherlands, Chile and Australia.
In Group C, Columbia, Greece, Cote d'Ivoire and Japan were placed in the same spot.
Uruguay was placed in Group D alongside Costa Rica, England and Italy. Switzerland took the first spot in Group E. Ecuador, France and Honduras followed in that order.
Four times Ballon D'Or winner, Lionel Messi and his Argentine mates face Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria.
