MTN Ghana Foundation Provides 50 Seater ICT Centre For The University College Of Agriculture And Environmental Studies

The MTN Ghana Foundation has constructed and handed over a 50-seater ICT Centre for the University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies at Bunso in the Eastern Region. The project was commissioned on 28th November 2013 as part of activities to climax this year�s Koftownfest. The 50 seater ICT centre, was constructed at the cost of One Hundred and Fourteen Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifty-Seven Ghana cedis, Thirty Five pesewas (GHC114, 457.35). The facility is expected to provide 150 students and 30 faculty members of the school with easy access to ICT and to facilitate academic work and research. The project was undertaken following a request from the Chancellor of the University Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin to support the institution. Speaking at commissioning ceremony, the Executive Secretary of MTN Ghana Foundation, Robert Kuzoe noted that, �ICT was a major learning and development tool needed for students in tertiary institutions to support with their research work especially for students studying programs such as agriculture and environmental studies. �Students need to tap into global knowledge base to gather information to facilitate their learning� he said. Apart from the Bunso ICT Centre commissioning, other activities were undertaken by MTN to celebrate the month-long MTN regional festival known as �Koftownfest�. Some of the activities included sports, entertainment and the commissioning of community development projects by the MTN Ghana Foundation. There were a series of data activations for subscribers with data supporting devices in the township as well as activation of Wi-Fi hotspots making it possible for subscribers to browse the internet at no cost. Sporting activities such as a health walk and a soccer tournament were held at the Jackson�s park and Galloway Park respectively. This year, the MTN regional �Culturefest� celebrations begun with the celebration of Ashantifest, (the CIMG Brand Activation of the Year), followed by Suncityfest in the Brong Ahafo region. Subscribers from the Western region of Ghana were also treated to a month-long celebration dubbed TwinCityfest
