Chief Justice Fumes At Delays In Justice Delivery

Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood is unhappy about what she describes as the unnecessary delays in justice delivery in the nations law courts. With emphasis on land litigation, she charged the nations Judges and Magistrates to deal with such cases with reasonable speed. She regretted that the adjudication of justice in relation to land matters has been riddled with delays. She thus reiterated the urgent need for the nations Judges and Magistrates to change the modus operandi in dealing with cases brought before them. This in her estimation will by extension reduce the unnecessary expenses litigants incur in the course of seeking justice in the law courts. She also pleaded with the nations Judges and Magistrates to be fair and just in justice delivery regardless of who the litigants involved are. Her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood was on Thursday in Accra addressing the 2013 edition of the Annual Chief Justice Forum under the theme, Expeditious Justice Delivery; the Role of Written Witness Statement. The objective of the forum was to offer the participants comprising Judges, Magistrates and Lawyers the opportunity to brainstorm and offer useful suggestions to three key amendments if need be to some aspects of CI 47.
