Four Ghana Players To Quit Their Clubs To Secure 2014 World Cup Places

The fight for places in Ghanas final squad for the 2014 World Cup is hotting up as FOUR bench-warming Black Stars players are seeking to quit their clubs next month to enable them make the final 23-man squad. With the January transfer window the only opportunity for them to switch clubs before Ghana names its final squad for the World Cup in Brazil in June, coach Kwesi Appiah looks to be focused on players playing competitively with their clubs abroad. This has prompted FOUR key Ghana players to consider leaving their current clubs to go where they could be guaranteed regular playing time to boost their chances of making Kwesi Appiahs final 23-man squad in June. This shows that they are aware that warming the bench with their club abroad could lead to them being axed from coach Kwesi Appiahs final squad for the tournament in Brazil in June. Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda, who has been told he his third choice at South African side Orlando Pirates, is considering leaving the club in January for regular playing time. Dauda is seeking to play for another rival South African side to help him preserve his place as the first-choice Black Stars shot-stopper. Derek Boateng is hoping Fulham will sanction a loan move for him in January in order to preserve his World Cup dreams. The 30-year-old joined the Cottagers in the summer on a free transfer, but he has been limited to just two league starts. Now he has his eyes on the World Cup finals next summer, where he hopes to participating with Ghana. It is every players dream to play in the World Cup and I want to go to Brazil to help my national team, (but) I cannot go to Brazil while I continue to warm the bench at Fulham, he said. I was signed by Martin (Jol) and he is no more with us, so I have started speaking to Fulham and hopefully they will understand me and allow me to go on loan. Boatengs situation is not different from Ukraine-based defender Samuel Inkoom who claims hes being tracked by English side Norwich City. The proposed move could end his nightmare experience in Ukraine and boost his chances of being part of the Black Stars for the 2014 World Cup. The centre-back, who can also double up as a full-back, is in search of regular first-team football in the New Year after falling out of favour at Dnipro. The 24-year-old is keen to find a way out of the Ukrainian outfit ahead of the World Cup in Brazil next summer to make sure he features in the Ghana squad. It is very important for me to be playing week in, week out with the World Cup coming up next summer, Inkoom said. I have not been allowed to do that for Dnipro and I hope to find a new club in January. Striker Jordan Ayew has had limited playing time with French side Marseille. He was even sent to the clubs second team which raised eyebrows. Ex-Marseille coach Ellie Baup refused to use the Ghanaian in matches in the French top-flight which resulted in the attacker being linked with clubs in England for the January transfer window. With new coach Jose Anigo showing interest in using Ayew in matches, the striker could stay with the French giants but he must be guaranteed playing time otherwise he could ask for a move to England when the winter transfer window opens in January. The development bodes well for Ghana as having players in top shape before the 2014 World Cup would boost the countrys chances of excelling at the World Cup.
