SC Ruling On Jake's Bungalow A Malignant Tumour - Omane Boamah

Dr Edmund Kofi Omane-Boamah, Minister of Communications on Tuesday described the Supreme Court�s ruling that validates Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey's acquisition of a state bungalow as a malignant tumour sitting in the law books. He said: �I believe a surgeon in the Supreme Court would one day remove this malignant tumour for us, leaving the healthy tissues.� Dr Omane-Boamah was speaking at a public lecture in Accra organised by the Ga Dangme Council on the theme: �Compulsorily acquired lands public interest and public purpose versus private interest, reflections on the Supreme Court�s decisions.� He gave the assurance that under President John Dramani Mahama, no Minister would be permitted to purchase any state bungalow. He said the National Democratic Congress led government is looking forward to fulfil its campaign promise of reversing state acquired lands which are not being utilised for their original purposes to their rightful owners. He said under the late President John Evans Atta Mills some state acquired lands were reversed to their original owners. Mr Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary in his contribution said although he and Dr Omane-Boamah lost the case involving the sale of the state bungalow to Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey, the court of public opinion would forever be on their side.
