Soldier Beats Sales Executive In Ho

Mr Prince Amateyfio, a Sales Executive with a financial institution in Ho was on Tuesday, assaulted by a Soldier from the 66 Artillery Regiment also in Ho. Sergeant Owusu Nyameakwan, the soldier, allegedly returned from Peacekeeping in Lebanon that evening and went crazy on Amateyfio for allegedly informing his wife that he brought girls home in her absence. Nyameakwan, said to live in the same house with Amateyfio, near the Volta Barracks was said to have broken into Amateyfios room, held him by the neck, gave him some slaps and dragged and hit his legs with a metal. Screams for help by Amateyfios wife attracted other tenants and neighbours who rescued him. Mr Amateyfio, who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) about the ordeal on Tuesday, said some military intelligence officers intervened and took him to a health facility in the barracks for treatment. He said he was later referred to the Volta Regional Hospital and had since been going for medical check-ups. Mr Amateyfio alleged that he is footing his own medical bills and also lost a Samsung Galaxy Tablet X3 during the assault. A source at the Regiment confirmed the story and said Police in Ho are preparing the case for court. Mr Nicholas Opare Ofosu-Hene, Municipal Police Commander confirmed the incident to the GNA. He said: Yes, a report has been made and I am saying the soldier should be taken to court.
