Spokespersons of Dr. Kwabena Adjei, the national chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who call themselves �Kwabena Adjei For Continuity (KAFCO),� have descended on the National Coordinator of the National Disaster management Organization (NADMO), Kofi Portuphy and dared him to come out clean on his achievements and contributions to the NDC that should merit him the post of national chairman. �We hereby challenge the so called �Eastern For Portuphy (EFOP)� group to come out and tell us clearly the achievements and contributions of Mr. Kofi Portuphy to the party that they think he deserves to unseat Dr. Kwabena Adjei in the forthcoming national delegates� congress.� At a press conference address by the secretary of KAFCO, Michael Adombire Asabre in Koforidua, the group explained that Dr. Adjei�s achievements are unprecedented in the history of the NDC having led the party to win the 2008 and 2012 elections, as well as the Supreme Court Election Petition case. They said under the leadership of �Wayo Wayo,� as the national chairman is affectionately called, there had been unity in the NDC which has made it become more formidable to win the 2016 election. And, therefore, such a winning coach needs to be maintained for the next general election. The group further issued a firm warning to any individual or group that intends to soil the good name of Dr. Adjei to desist form it since they will no longer tolerate such acts and suggested that the party structures be used to address individual differences. They cited the �Eastern For Portuphy group,� led by Richard Etornam�s unnecessary attacks on Dr. Adjei�s personality as a bad example which must not be countenanced. According to the group, a recent publication attributed to EFOP which attacked the national chairman for saying he is �chairman for Life� and a recent publication on myjoyonline.com which quoted Dr. Adjei as saying �Ghanaians are lazy� are deliberate attempts by some people to run down the national chairman. They warned all behind what they call character assassination of Dr. Adjei to desist from it or they will also descend into the same gutter to defend the integrity of the national chairman.
