Ghanaian ICT Guru Charges Youth: Engage In Self-employment Ventures

Christian Atsitsogbui, the Products and Technical Solutions Manager of RayCom Technologies, a wholly Ghanaian owned Information Technology Company, has admonished young graduates to venture into self-employment. Speaking at a banquet organized for the companys clientele, Mr. Atsitsogbui recounted the formative years of the firm, which has now become one of the biggest providers of enterprise communication solutions in Ghana and the West African Sub-Region. According to him, the idea of starting an ICT company was hatched in the year 2002 by some young university graduates who were fed up with job hunting. The initiative, though seemed childish initially, started with two workers but now has a work force of about 22. Mr. Atsitsogbui further told his clients that the RayCom story exemplifies the can do spirit of the Ghanaian youth and urged all to attempt to get their hands on self-employable ventures rather than hunting for non-existing jobs. By so doing, jobs are created, the nation derives more revenue in terms of tax and crime is reduced, he argued. RayCom Technologies now provide telephony solutions, network infrastructure, data centers and surveillance systems to a number of leading manufacturing and financial institutions across West Africa.
