Parents Advised To Protect Children

Mr Micheal Baabu, Founder of Safe Child Ghana, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) Tuesday entreated parents to ensure maximum security of their children from being kidnapped. He noted that kidnappers were on rampage and therefore, children must not be left alone to play, to go to school unaccompanied nor send them on errands alone. Mr Baabu told the GNA that instances where when children, particularly those under five, were allowed to go to school unaccompanied, this he said was risky and not proper. He said lack of parental, teachers and caregivers protection, particularly at home, school and church were steadily making children vulnerable to the ploy of unscrupulous individuals. The Founder of Safe Child Ghana, the NGO that promotes safety among children, said kidnappers were not only after ransom, adding that, "some children were used in child labour activities and rituals." Mr Baabu disclosed that some abducted children were also transported to neigbhouring countries where they were groomed and used for commercial sex business.
