In the last two months, our party, the New Patriotic Party, has held elections in some 26,000 polling stations across the country, followed by constituency executives elections in most places. With very few notable exceptions, the exercise has been successful. The generally peaceful, united, free and fair manner in which the polls were conducted served as an encouraging testimony to the NPP's democratic culture and a neat exhibition of the spirit of oneness that the NPP needs. It must continue and we must consciously let peace and unity within the NPP serve as our constant guide. I congratulate all members of the party who participated in the various elections held so far. For those who lost, I wish you better luck next time and, more importantly, I urge you to stay fully engaged in our efforts to re-organise the party for the general elections of 2016. For those who won, please reach out to bring on board every member and supporter of the party in our efforts towards a strong and effective campaign for a clear and resounding victory in 2016. We need unity now to reinforce our front to offer a more attractive and competent alternative to the people of Ghana. I will urge that any issues arising from these party elections be resolved amicably and expeditiously in a fair and transparent manner, using the existing internal party procedures. Protecting the integrity of the organization, whiles addressing all legitimate issues, is the way to go. The NPP has an enviable democratic tradition of encouraging free and lively competition, and exchange of ideas and views among members. Let us protect and project this tradition by keeping our competing or opposing views on the way forward decent and constructive. My message to the rank and file of the party is that we must never lose focus of what it is that is at stake: the destiny of our dear country and how to enhance the lives of ordinary Ghanaians. The task ahead is to win power and be so declared in 2016 so that we can give the people of Ghana the governance, which they deserve. Let us stay united even as we compete amongst ourselves. We cannot compromise on the unity of the party if we are not to compromise on the victory that we seek. We must, therefore, see these internal contests as but a necessary re-organisation process that we must first go through. Let us keep it clean and convivial so that we can all get back together, to think together, work together and secure victory together in 2016. Thank you. Nana Akufo-Addo
