The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia says it is wrong for President Mahama to be drawn into the Merchant Bank sale Saga. According to him, the loan contracted by the President�s brother, Ibrahim Mahama for Engineers and Planners was without the knowledge and influence of the President. Mr Asiedu Nketia was addressing a news conference in Accra to react to the Merchant bank drama. He said he personally supports the takeover of Merchant bank by Fortiz Equity Fund since their offer was better than First Rand bank. Mr Asiedu Nketia said government�s intervention to save Merchant Bank from imminent collapse was in the right direction adding that the collapse of any bank to an economy is colossal and must be averted.
