Gov�t Must Honour Ewurama Addy

A former Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Professor Agyemang Badu Akosah is asking the state to give the late Professor Ewurama Addy the highest posthumous honour of the land. Prof Akosah who described the late Professor as a one of the nation�s most invaluable citizens said she is worth the honour because of her contribution to national development. According to him, Ghana has lost �one of the most invaluable citizens of this country and this country must do whatever to honour her�for the work that she�s done in science, for the work that she�s done for women in science and for how she put Ghana on the science research map.� He expressed the hope that Ghana will be �honest in itself� and honour the late Prof. Addy. Meanwhile, the family of the late professor has described her as a pillar for humanity. A family spokesperson, Ruby Quantson told Citi News, the speed with which the news of her death reached Ghanaians even before the family could formally announce it shows �her reach in this world She added that the funeral arrangements will be announced in the next few days. The 72-year-old Professor passed to glory at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital on Tuesday after a short illness. She was the popular host of the national weekly science and mathematics quiz program on television and she was also the first woman professor of Science from the University of Ghana.
