Rawlings Behavior Depicts The Adage, Those That The gods Want To Destroy, They First Go Mad

To many Ghanaians, the killing of General Afrifa, Acheampong, Utuka and other Senior Military Officers in 1979 was justifiable and good reason to save the country from implosion due to the widespread nature of corruption in that era. But a member of the communication team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Richard Asante Yeboah believes the reason for which those former heads of state were killed should have been meted out to Rawlings as he sold state enterprise to his wife while in office. Former President Jerry Rawlings says the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council necessarily needed to have executed Generals Afrifa, Acheampong, Utuka and other senior Military Officers in 1979 to save the country from implosion. We had no choice. We thought let two go. Acheampong and a certain Utuka, very corrupt Generals. They were sacrificed. It was not enough. Ladies and gentlemen, 10 days later, we had to sacrifice another 6 and some of the Commanders were innocent good people but it had to be done because the rage in the country was too high, too much, the former Military leader told students in the Volta region where he spoke as the Guest of honor at the closing ceremony of the regional camp of the International Youth Fellowship at the Adidome Senior High School. In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Richard Asante Yeboah described the speech of Rawlings at the occasion as a confession which was masterminded by the torment of the ghosts of those he massacred in the name anti-corruption after failing to accuse himself and Mahama-led administration of similar acts. ..Rawlings killed people for taking loans and others, he killed for living exorbitant lifestyles but now look at the kind of life he is living in the country? For me, it is rather unfortunate that Rawlings is still alive for the same reason he killed others..it appears that those the gods want to destroy, they first make them go mad, he opined. Pontificating on the ranting of Former President Rawlings at every given opportunity, the NPP communicator asserted that the adage, those that the gods want to destroy, they first made mad depicts Rawlings current behavior in public, saying, the ghosts of those who were killed are hunting him for the murders he committed.
