Komla Dumor Wanted To Become a Medical Doctor Despite His Passion for Journalism But�

For many who did not know the genesis of Ghana�s, Africa and the World finest broadcast journalist, Komla Dumor might think he was born holding a microphone in front of a camera or behind a console doing what he does best. But that could not be possible. The incredible story of Komla Dumor did not start out as a professional journalist who took over Ghana�s airwaves over a decade with his equitable handling of political issues and matters concerning the nation on Joy FM. From a dramatic viewpoint, there are few professions that grant their members entry into other lives; high among them are doctors and journalists. Their lives are lived in the midst of human drama. For the love and passion Komla Dumor has for human, as a young man who has just turned 16 years, his dream was to become a medical doctor when he enrolled in the University of Ghana Medical School, Legon. That dream fell into the ditch when he failed his last year exams in medical school. The rumor was that Komla has opted to change his course. But apart from his family, close pals and course mates, little did the public know that Komla has failed his medical exams awfully. Komla Dumor who was ones narrating his life story to a gathered youth said �I started out wishing I could become a doctor and I spent many years reading science, I went to the medical school but those who don�t know the story, the sad part is�by my fourth year in medical school, I failed the final exams and I was withdrawn from the program. ��I wanted to be a doctor for two reasons. One, because I have the passion for it and I truly believe in doing something meaningful while I am on this earth. And the second is�I like people and like to be around people and like to learn something new. So I though reading medicine will be best for me,� he said According to him, keeping your dreams alive you must �Understand to achieve anything require faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination and dedication�remember all things are possible for those who believe.� Been withdrawn from medical school did not perturb his desire for journalism since that also deals with human interaction. Komla Dumor became the �Boss Playa� on Ghana�s airwave before joining British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in 2007. BBC �Focus on Africa� host, Komla Dumor days before his sudden death at his home in London, confessed to a few friends that he suffered a lot of �jealousy driven vicious insults and backstabbing from petty people� at the BBC �without replying� any of them.
