Premix Fuel Shortage Hits W/R

There is a shortage of pre-mix fuel in the coastal town of Dixcove in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region. A resident of the town, Emmanuel Bentum said more than 400 canoes in the area had not received petroleum products for their fishing expedition for more than two weeks now, thus heightening the economic situation of the people, because most of them depended on fishing for their livelihood. A fisherman, Kwesi Awortwe said as a result of the shortage, some fishermen are facing financial difficulties, especially with the payment of their wards school fees whilst others credit food to feed their family. Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive for Ahanta West, Mr. Joseph Dofoyenah said he received a report on the shortage of the commodity on Thursday January 23, and assured the fishermen that the National Pre-mix Secretariat would be informed. He advised them to exercise restraint as measures would be put in place to address their concerns
