NPP Handled Factionalism In Regional Polls Better Than Upcoming National Congress

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region has stated that members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have handled factionalism in the party, in the run up to the last congress better than the upcoming national congress, which is also scheduled to be held this year. According to him, factionalism was there. No one will say it was not there even though some of us tried to prevent it, we couldnt. During elections people were not looking out for competence, they were not looking so the contestants loyalty towards the NPP but whether they belonged to the Alan camp or the camp of Nana Akufo Addo. Hon. Jumah noted that factionalism was deeply rooted in the party so much so that, they forgot that after voting, we have to unite behind the elected people. He also added that there were some mischievous people who also took advantage of the confusion to deepen the cracks in the party but the NPP has been able to handle the situation better this time around. Speaking to the issue of factionalism in NPP, Kofi Jumah, who is popularly known as Kofi Ghana told Adakabre Frimpong Manso the host of Me Man Nti on NEAT FM that, the party seem to have learnt its lessons from the negative effect factionalism has had on the party in recent times. victimizing members and alienating others for aligning themselves with candidate or the other flies in the face of the saying that politics is a game of numbers, he said.
