NDC Says It Will Not Tolerate Criminals

Nana Kow Arhin, a leading member of the Agona West Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said the party would accept only candidates with clean records to contest its next constituency elections. He cautioned aspirants with criminal records not to make attempt when the time comes because they would be weeded out. Nana Arhin was commenting on a bench warrant issued by an Agona Swedru magistrate court for the arrest of Mr Kweku Attah-Yeboah, a follower of the party who is aspiring for the Vice Chairmanship position in the constituency. Mr Attah-Yeboah is accused of allegedly leading a five machomen to attack and mercilessly beat one Mr Emmanuel Arkoh, a member of the Agona East District Assembly a week ago. Nana Arhin said NDC constituency executives in the area had no hand in the criminal act perpetrated by Mr Attah-Yeboah, adding that both Regional and National leaders of the party would not condone such disgraceful behavior. He said he had personally took time to strongly caution Mr Attah-Yeboah on many occasions to stop using the names of top NDC executives in Accra to collect sums of money from people in the area with a promise to secure them employment. Nana Arhin cited one of such fraudulent practices in which Mr Attah-Yeboah was arrested and arraigned before Agona-Swedru circuit court for defrauding 10 people of various sums of money ranging between 500.00 Ghana cedis to 1,000 Ghana cedis under the pretext of finding them employment in the Ghana Armed Forces. Nana Arhin told NDC members in the Agona West Constituency that the only sure way they could assist President John Dramani Mahama to implement the Better Ghana Agenda was to cultivate a high sense of self-control, discipline, dedication and the spirit of hard work. He said that members of the party who wanted to contest for positions at the constituency level must first make sure that they possess these vital qualities because the constituencies constitute the strong pillars of the party. Nana Arhin assured the leadership of the party that NDC supporters in the area would continue to give the President their full support and pray hard for the successful execution of all national development programmes.
