One person is reported dead and six more injured after sustaining gunshot wounds Monday. The Police Service in Kumasi fired warning shots to disperse demonstrators at Duase and Kenyase in the Ashanti Region. The youth in Duase and Kenyase reportedly blocked the road in protest against the deplorable nature of roads in the area. Describing the situation to Kwami Sefa Kayi on �Kokrokoo�, Sampson Kwame Nyamekye, Peace FM correspondent said there was quite a number of the demonstrators that the police had to call for reinforcement, leading to the use of teargas and warning shots. According to Sampson Nyamekye, though the police admitted the group had notified them of their intention to demonstrate; it was illegal on their part to block the road and prevent free flow of traffic. The six who sustained gunshot wounds have been admitted at the Komfo- Anokye Teaching hospital and are said to be responding to treatment. More soon....
