Mr Akwasi Opong-Fosu, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, is to embark on a three-day working visit to selected Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Central Region from Monday February 10. The MMDAs to be visited include; Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Gomoa West District, Ekumfi District and Mfantseman Municipality. A statement to the Ghana News Agency signed by Mr Vincent K. Adzato-Ntem, Acting Chief Director of the Ministry. explained that the purpose of the visit is to familiarize with the various activities on-going in the MMDAs. The overall objective of the working visit is to have first-hand information of what pertains on the ground at the local level, to inform policy decisions for the benefit of the people. According to the statement, the tour is meant to interact with Assembly Members, staff of the Assemblies, and the chiefs and people in the selected areas. The statement said the Minister and his team are also expected to engage members of the Regional Co-ordinating Councils and non-state actors, to plan the way forward for the region�s development. The Minister's working tour which forms part of a national exercise, will allow him to tour all regions.
