Mr. President, Ghanaians Deserve A Bit Of Respect From The British - Kofi Capito

Chairman of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), Kofi Capito has indicated that Ghanaians will take to the streets and demonstrate if government does not take steps to call the British High Commission in Ghana to order over its new visa acquisition regulations. The British High Commission in Ghana since January last year changed the payment for UK visas in cash; either with credit card online, or in cash at the submission point to payment with an internationally recognized Visa Card, Mastercard or Skrill Credit Card. So if you do not have an internationally recognized Visa card, Mastercard or Skrill Credit Card then you need to get someone to do it for you or you cannot apply for a visa, an officer at the visa application centre told an Accra based radio station. However, speaking in an interview on Peace FMs Kokrokoo programme, Kofi Capito who had a personal experience with the British High Commission condemned the directive and has called on the Ghana government and the Commission to do something about it or face the wrath of Ghanaians. According to him, he had confirmation from government that they had received notification from the Commission concerning the new directive, however, he does not understand governments silence over the issue and their inability to do something about it. They have made up their mind that they are not going to accept any dealings in cedihow can we be in our country and another country will be dictating to us? What did government do in the interest of the people when they received the notification? he queried. Describing the new directive as unrealistic, he said we are a member of the Commonwealth and so what is the essence of belonging to any society if you dont get any benefit?I think Ghanaians deserve more respect from the British. He therefore gave government up to the end of February to impress on the BHC to revert to the status quo. It is a simple directive for government to come to a consensus with the British High Commission. I am challenging the Governor of Bank of Ghana, the Finance Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of Ghana to for once let Ghanaians behave like Ghanaians, he stated.
