Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has said: �no society can remain prosperous for long without respect for human rights and the rule of law�.
According to him, respect for human rights and the rule of law is one of the three main pillars on which any society can develop.
Additionally, Mr Annan said: �There can be no long-term security without development�.
Similarly, he warned that: �There can be no long-term development without security�.
He said recently in Geneva, Switzerland that it is very important that: �Healthy and democratic societies must be built on solid foundations�.
