I Will Sue Daily Guide For Their Lies- Hassan Ayariga

2012 Flagbearer for the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Hasan Ayariga, has threatened to sue the Daily Guide newspaper for publishing what he considers to be "lies" about him. Thursday, 20th February edition of the paper carried a screaming headline "Ayariga Arrested Over Death Threats" claiming the PNC flagbearer was in the grips of the Police for threatening a member of his party. David Apasera, the national treasurer of the PNC in an earlier interview with Okay FM accused Mr. Ayariga of threatening to harm him should he set the stage to investigate monies said to have gone missing under his (Ayariga's) watch. The Daily Guide newspaper reported that Mr. Agyariga was granted bail after threatening Mr. Apasera via text message sent on his mobile handset. The paper further published that when they contacted the PNCs national treasurer, he told them that "when I got this other text message, I said this is not a person to joke with because he is quite a dangerous person.. .so I said 'let me go and tell the Police. So I told the police. I came to the Nima Police Station to report it, so last week they invited us and we met there." But when Mr. Ayariga was contacted by Okay FM to share his side of the story, he narrated an entirely different sequence of events and even threatened to deal with the Daily Guide in court for publishing falsehood. According to him, he had never been granted bail for threatening somebodys life and is perplexed such lies can cover the front-page of an Accra daily. That is a very big lie! I think Daily Guide needs to be sued and I will do that. They enjoy carrying wrong info and Ghanaians need to be wary about their publications. As at now, I am in my hotel room in Kumasi and I am embarking on my National Thank You tour. If I am with the police, how come I am talking to you? he asked the host, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese.
