The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Dome/Kwabenya constituency of the Greater Accra Region, over the weekend held an emergency meeting at the Graduate School for Nuclear and Allied Sciences at Atomic to take stock of the party�s previous activities and also draw plans towards election 2016. The meeting was attended by polling station and constituency executives; the Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo and some party gurus who claimed it was meant to strategize towards the general elections in 2016. The Dome/Kwabenya constituency has become famous because there it was that the NPP first detected a grand scheme by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rig the 2012 general elections. Addressing the enthusiastic party members, Ms Adwoa Safo said it would take hard work for the NPP to win the 2016 general elections, even though it was clear that the Mahama administration had woefully failed Ghanaians. �Let�s not think that victory in 2016 will come on a silver platter simply because almost every Ghanaian is complaining about the unprecedented hardship in the country,� she said, stressing that the NPP supporters must tell fellow Ghanaians how President John Mahama is grossly mismanaging the economy wherever they find themselves. She said as far as she was concerned, she would deliver on her promises to the constituents so that they would vote for her for the second time. She said as a way of resolving the perennial water problem in the constituency, she was going to construct 10 boreholes to serve the people. She disclosed that she had procured 130 street lights to be fixed at strategic areas to help improve security in the area, and gave the assurance that all defective street lights would be replaced. The MP promised to build a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in the constituency to help make registration by the constituents easy. Ms Adwoa Safo called on the Ga East Municipal Assembly to come to the aid of women trading at the Dome market because whenever it rained, the whole place became muddy and deplorable. The newly-elected first vice chairman for the constituency, Kwabena Ameyaw, asked all the polling station executives to start door-to-door campaign and explain to Ghanaians how the Mahama administration had almost collapsed the economy. He called on supporters to unite so that the task of wresting power from the ruling NDC would be easy. �I want to call on the old executives who lost their positions, to join hands with us so that all of us can present a united front in capturing power from the NDC,� he enjoined. He also called on all delegates to the national conference of the party, which would come off in Tamale on April 12, to vote for competent people who would be able to re-capture power for the NPP. At the meeting was the Greater Accra Regional women�s organizer of the party, Joyce Konokie Zempare.
