XCLUSIV FOTOS: Komla Dumor Finally Gone!...As Family Say Goodbye With Emotional Tributes

Ghanaian BBC Broadcaster Komla Afeke Dumor who died of cardiac arrest in his London home on Saturday January 18, this year has been laid to rest over the weekend. Komla�s funeral and burial service began on Friday February 21 at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra with a solemn requiem mass that was led by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer-Buckle. The mortal remains of Komla, concealed in a coffin, arrived at the Cathedral around 8:00am. The coffin was opened for about 30 minutes for his wife, Kwansema Dumor, family members and close friends to file past, after which it was closed for the Archbishop to begin the requiem mass. The mortal remains of Komla Dumor was laid in state on Saturday February 22 for friends, the media and general public to bid Komla farewell. A liturgical service was held on the same Saturday at the forecourt of the State House in Accra after which body was interred in a private family ceremony. There were very emotional and touching tributes by Widow Mrs. Kwansema Dumor, his father Prof. Dumor, his daughter, his bother among others. Finally, there was a thanksgiving service on Sunday February 23, 2014 also at the Holy Spirit Cathedral. Komla�s final journey was greeted with tears and sorrowful moments. Some of the dignitaries present to celebrate Komla�s life included Statesmen, Politicians, Media personalities, Musicians, Movies Stars, Chiefs, and Poets among other. The President of the Republic of Ghana H.E. John Dramani Mahama was there to pay his last respect. A delegation from BBC led Peter Horrocks, Director of BBC Global News was there as well as a delegation from the Mandela family in South Africa.
